When you see and feel these rugs, you come to a true understanding of the term "Berber". From the Berber tribes of Northern Africa comes a unique yarn spinning process that has been copied worldwide. Our Rabat quality embodies the essence of the Berber tradition that has inspired yarn spinners around the world. A Jaspe' rug utilizing traditional, hand-spun yarn has a density like no other rug in the world. Rabat is thick, earthy, warm and comfortable. One has to feel Rabat as much as see it to fully appreciate what it is about.

Beni Quarain is a delightful blend of thick and thin wool and jute yarns - a playfully thick shag like no other in the world.

Hand-knotted Marrakech is made from a machine spun Berber yarn. This is also a Jaspe' rug with three ends per knot to form the densest rug you have ever felt. Like Rabat, Marrakech needs to be felt to be understood. One "floats" on it more than one "walks" on it.

While both our stocking programs are Jaspe', we do have available the most extensive collection of "sand-painted" renderings of the popular "Ifrane" quality. For those who are interested in these Aztec influenced patterns, that were vastly popular in the 1960's, drop us a note. Whether it is "6 Bis" or "76 Ter", we have the drawings and would love to share them with those of you who appreciate this classic area rug phenomenon.
